Erik Nickel

I hold master’s degrees in Cognitive Science from the University of Trento and the University of Osnabrück. I joined the LN2T in October 2024 for my PhD studies in Cognitive Neuroscience utilizing modern neuroimaging technics. In my research project, I am investigating sleep transitions, specifically the Sleep Onset Period from wakefulness to sleep, using MEG and EEG-fMRI data. My approach includes working with EEG and MEG microstate, hidden Markov Models and neural correlates of the Sleep Onset period, defined by Hori stages.
